Venezuelan government donated half a million to Trump’s inauguration fund

As Venezuela slips deeper into social and economic chaos a new revelation has political pundits scratching their heads.

Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro

Newly released documents show that Citgo Petroleum, a U.S.-based subsidiary of the Venezuelan state-owned oil company PVDSA, was one of the biggest corporate donors to Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony, ranking with the likes of JP Morgan Chase and Exxon.

The Venezuelan government donated $500,000 despite on-going economic and political turmoil that has sparked the worst protests in years and a rising death toll.

The donation came through Bank of America, which contributed $1 million, according to papers filed with the Federal Election Commission.

According to government documents, Donald Trump sent a personal thank-you note to Venezuela president Nicolas Maduro.

    Truly, totally Weird…

    • Globe Trotter

Why weird? Merely common sense for Venezuela. Trump is non-OPEC pro-fossil fuel leader, an incredible gift to the oil/gas/coal empires. Venezuela is a huge member AND in the Western hemisphere. Trump’s win solidifies all oil-propped governments, Iran, Iraq, UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar who fund ISIS…not to mention Russia (who supplies Europe).

Oil love makes no sense for the USA and its fears for the safety of its citizens. But there you have it!

Sounds like so much BS. Makes no sense, since Trump has despised Maduro for a long time. This story is also leaving out a number of things. One of them was that it was a contribution to the inaugural committee. It wasnt to Trump, and those funds are given well ahead of time. The committee isnt political and no matter who won it was arranging the inaugural. SO a “thank you” note sounds like utter BS.

Did you even read the article? It DID say the contribution was to the inaugural committee…

  • Dogoslave

Great spin, but just fake news………”Distort & Report”, is alive and well here.

    • Sara

Actually, it’s absolutely true. Reported by many legit international news media. Money and politics make for strange bed-fellows, indeed!

      • Lars

Long live OPEC, big oil and all fossil fuels! Viva Trump!

hasta cuando la media que llaman BS fake news try to give venezuela lies all the time.It is perhaps that you all do not think only about irak, iran ,libia ect and keep killing people around the worpl on the name of freedom and the democracy??bluff.

Trump supports coal and oil. That’s been known for a long time. Equally well-known is that Obama was inclined to move away from coal and oil in favor of “green” energy sources. From that perspective, I don’t find it odd at all that Venezuela would support Trump. On the other hand, if you just simply hate Trump, this adds more fuel to the burning fire.
