We are a married couple (a gringo and a Cuencana) with a one-year old baby girl, and we are looking to share our spacious fully furnished country home with another individual, couple, or family. Our home is ideally located in a pueblo, just minutes above Hotel Oro Verde, 15 minutes from downtown, in SAN Jose de Balzay. The best of both worlds, the tranquility of el campo while being right on a mani bus line (#50). We are open to short-term or long-term arrangements, with rates starting at $150/month including utilities and internet. Share our commercial kitchen and enjoy the harvest from our organic garden and greenhouse. Secure off-street parking.

Date: Saturday, February 18, Time: 2:00 pm to ???, Place: Parque al Paraiso. If you are a little sad at seeing the end of the season come so quickly, then c’mon out and watch the two teams in the Liga Nacional de Futbol Americano en Ecuador representing Cuenca, the Condors and the Trojans battle it out for bragging rights.
You can show your support for these young Ecuadorian men and their love of this sport by donating whatever you feel is appropriate, and by just watching the game or meeting the players and talking with them about their passion for America’s game. This sport is growing here, and you can get involved with it now. Stop and talk with us about opportunities with these teams or in building another league within the Universities. There are lots of opportunities and your help is greatly appreciated. See ya’ there.

Refugio Del Mejor Amigo has been contacted by some amazing animal lovers in San Gabriel, Carchi, almost on the border with Colombia.
They rescued Charlie, a purebred Shap Pei, from a horrible situation. He was unable to stand, was tied with a rope so he couldn’t move around, and was surrounded by many other dogs who attacked him as he lay defenseless. He had a huge, deep wound in his neck from the rope and many patches of missing fur due to a skin condition.
With much love, healthy food and medical treatment, Charlie has recovered completely. His rescuers are unable to keep him as they are leaving Ecuador in a few weeks. They will drive him to Cuenca if we can find a loving forever home for him, and they have promised to contribute monthly to his care. They would like to keep in contact with his new family to keep posted on his new life.
The vet estimates that Charlie is about 3 years old, and he will be neutered before he goes to his new home. If you are interested in adopting Charlie, please contact me. He has suffered so much and deserves his happy ending. Thank you.
