For the first time in Cuenca, Rod Barthet will share with us his music influenced by blues, rock, pop and soul.
Rod Barthet was 20 when he decided to become a profesional musician : in 1991, he travelled for the first time to San Francisco and played with Tommy Castro, Johnny Nitro, Harvey Mandel (Canned Heat), Ron Thompson and Jim Guyett (bassist of John Lee Hooker). When he heard about Rod Barhet and listened to his music, John Lee Hooker invited the French young man to open his show.
In 1995, Rod Barthet came back to San Francisco with his band, “The Shotgun’s”, to record his first album “Mr Alligator” at the Alpha & Omega Studios. At the time, he’s also the guest of Roy Rogers, Joe Louis Walker, Jimmy Johnson, Bo Diddley, Wilson Picket, Alvin Lee and Mick Taylor.
He released his second album “Changer l’horizon” in 1998. The same year, he met Boris Bergman, which lead them to arrange together 8 songs of Barthet’s next record “Au bout d’ma ligne”.
Rod Barthet’s new LP, “Les filles à l’écoute”, has been presented in Europe and will be now displayed in South America.
Our tour to the charming Artisan Villages starts at the Arutam Ecotours office at 9 am. First we will stop in the small town of San Bartolomé, where you can observe the process of making guitars. Then, we will visit Chordeleg, which is famous for its traditionally-made jewelry of fine gold and silver, where you can stroll along the main road and plaza and visit the many jewelry shops. Afterwards, we will visit a silversmith and you can watch him creating this fine jewelry art work. Before our last stop you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch. Then you pass Gualaceo to get to a weaving workshop. The weavers produce different products like scarves using a special “ikat technique” to pattern textiles. If you like, we can also stop at the Orchid Farm before going back to Cuenca

Friday Roxy does an Encore Performance. If you missed Roxy’s premier on our stage last Saturday, you missed a piece of history. A Star was Born on that night. It was an extraordinary show by an extremely gifted talent. She returns to do an encore performance with several new songs for our enjoyment. The range of her voice is unbelievable as she sings Joplin, Etta James, Adelle, Creedence Clearwater, the Beatles, Nora Jones, Aretha Franklin, Tracy Chapman, and Aerosmith. See why she has such a huge fan base in such a very short time. Many people at last Saturday’s show have already reserved. This lady is the real thing. Show starts at 7:30. No Cover. Reservations strongly suggested.
